Ah, it has come to this. But I am sick of tearing my hair out and getting stressed and pissed off.
As to changes...

:bulletpurple: CHANGES TO EXCLUSIVE STOCK: I have yet again changed my prices of my exclusive stock. The packs are different prices depending on whether they are Option A, B, or C. The important change is however, that Option C will no longer be available after Thursday the 25th November 2010. Basically... I hate the fact that they were taken with a handheld camera blue-tacked to my easel. So I am deleting them when I get back from work on thursday. I have also knocked some money off the price. If you wish to purchase them before they get deleted permanently from my gallery and from my computer, you will need to do so before this deadline.
The packs that will no longer be available are The Sorceress 1, 2, 3 and 4. Stock Pack 1 and 2. The Dark Temptress Pack, and Pack 2, The Dagger and Throne Pack.
:bulletpurple:I also feel like I need to remind people that donating to my stocky-cause and gaining an exclusive stock pack does not negate the fact that you need to follow my rules. I have not signed a model contract with you. I am considering creating some commercial stock, where I will sign away the image to you and you can do whatever you wish with the image, but until then, back to asking nicely. :P

:bulletpurple: CHANGES TO MY RULES REGARDING RETOUCHES: As of right now, a retouch using my stock is no longer allowed.. No offence to any retouch-artists, but I hated them anyway, no matter how good they were. They grate against my principles, and I just get way too much hassle with people not adherring to my rules in this instance. So I am no longer allowing retouches using my stock. I am sorry for any inconvinience caused. But sending out a note to every other person who has done a retouch using my stock is getting highly infuriating.
Do not feel like you have to delete any existing deviations (unless i have had to ask you to due to a breach of my rules. In which case you do).

:bulletpurple: COMMERCIAL USE: I have merely added that I reserve the right to ask for money. Basically, because I've just been screwed over by a big company. And that pisses me off.

:bulletpurple: LINE ART- REMINDER: A while back I changed my rules regarding line art. Only to say, that if you offer up your line art for other people to colour, that when they submit the coloured version, aswell as crediting you for line art. To add me as the original reference used by you, and to note me. Two teeny things is all I'd like in that instance.

Ok. Now for the rant and my full reasons, if you are all interested. I'm sure some people who retouch images will be curious as to why I don't like retouches. The following opinions aren't meant to offend. I sometimes do like your work, I can appreciate where it is skillful and a good retouch. But I still really, really don't like them.
Why? Because I don't like the fact that we live in a world where everything and everyone has to be perfect to be considered beautiful. I despise airbrushing in magazines. This is where it stems from. The models are attractive enough without making them thinner and more sleek. No one is perfect, and I would hate to live in a world where we all were. It's our differences that make us unique after all. There is an ideal of beauty that everyone seems to be striving to, and I once swore to myself that I would never be a sheep. I don't want to look like everyone else, because I am not like everyone else you see.
I know I'm not perfect, and I have grown to like that. My front teeth are crooked. I like that, it gives me a unique bite :P So what if my skin isn't the clearest and you can see my pores and I get spots? I am human with skin that breathes and is affected by my hormones. And so what if i have dark freckles dotted all over, and scars and frizzy hair? I'm not the thinnest person around neither. In fact I've gained quite abit of weight during this year. I'm not saying that I like that. But I wouldn't like being anorexic neither. I love my food too much to deprive myself of it.

For 3 years I have allowed retouches, even though it grates against my opinions and every sight of an airbrushed me irks and digs. And I'm sorry, but I really can't do it anymore. Especially since it seems like every other retouch submission I am having to get in touch with the deviant because they haven't read my rules concerning them properly, and they've either submitted it under the Photography category or they haven't creditted me, or they've just changed the eye colour. I haven't got the strength to argue with them anymore. I can't and I'm not going to do it.
I apologise, I really do feel bad, to those artists who do retouches who have followed my rules and do a great job and do it all properly. I'm sorry.

Again, I don't want my opinion to offend you guys. I know you'll probably not all agree with me, feel free to disagree. And it's not your work/art that I have issue with in not liking retouches. It's the whole ideallistic thing and "beauty must be flawless" thing that retouching images for magazines and everything seems to represent to me.

As for the commercial use thing... I don't like forcing you guys to give me a cut out of your hard-earned profit when you're trying to make a living. Especially since I offer stock up for free anyway.
But I do get offers of money for things, for which I am always grateful. But I don't like demanding it. If you're trying to make your living, it's a harsh enough economical environment without me screeching for payment. Alot of you give money out of the goodness of your hearts... Big corporations however, do not have hearts... And since it was a photomanipulation that they wanted to use, where you could clearly tell that it was still me, I would have loved to say, well gimme abit of money for it then. However, with my rules as they were, I had kinda left myself with no leg to stand on, as it were. I didn't refuse them however, because they weren't paying the artist anything neither, and he was really excited about it, and I didn't want to let him down. It was a fantastic opportunity for him. And some awesome art.
But I guess thats how big corporations make their money, by shitting on the little people. "Oh hai, we want to use your work. But we're not going to pay you for it. Oh no, don't be silly."
BAH
Still.. it should be good. But I dunno how much I can say about it. I don't even know if it's definately going to happen.

Also.. I would love it if all you lovely people (those who haven't already) could donate some prizes to for an up-and-coming contest hosted by SizzlingHotStock
So far we have plenty of points, and journal features, and quite alot of exclusive stock on offer. More of these are also fantastic, but I would love you long time if more subs and art-commissions were able to be offered. So far I'm giving out two subs (with christmas coming up and my employers deciding to screw their employees even more) I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford to give everyone a sub. And I'm donating one drawing, but I know timewise, it would be stupid of me to donate two. I understand if alot of you can't. And I really appreciate those of you who have already donated and those who are willing to. Every little helps. Please let me know here what you can give ;) tasastock.deviantart.com/journ…

For the record... I don't like saying "you can't do this, you can't do that" with my stock. And restricting the outcome.. But really... I can't do it anymore.

Read your piece and comments with great interest. I've just been trying some retouching myself. I can see why one might not consider it an 'art'. It's more like a set of skills to learn. It's something I wanted to learn with a view to using it in more creative ways. The artists Vault 49 mix photos with vectors and other images - a style that I really like. I posted my retouches here, not at any pretence of being great art, but just I thought those donating the stock would want to see them.

Interestingly there's even a program now I tried recently called 'portrait pro'. You just click various points on your portrait pic and then just use a bunch of sliders to take out wrinkles, smooth skin etc.. I tried it on a picture of my mum. Looked totally weird and horrible. Here the 'art' is reduced to simply where on the slider you want the settings.

Having said that I've browsed other sites and it's interesting to note that some sites have retouching contests where everyone works on the same picture and there's some differences, though not that much to my eyes, so they can choose a winner.

Anyway good post and an interesting debate for me and great stock selection you've provided. Will fully adhere to your rules should I get my ass into gear and produce some more images at some time.
