Well, hang on--I have a map which shows locales where dragons have been encountered in Britain (The Flight of Dragons by Peter Dickinson, FANTASTIC paintings by Wayne Anderson! It's absolutely essential reading)
---quite a few places in the South!

St. Osyth, on the coast maybe 30 miles NE of London, attacked by a HUGE dragon in 1170, that's fairly recent...
At a place called Chipping Norton, west of Oxford, there was a two-headed, bat-winged beast sighted there in 1349!
Kingston St. Mary, Churchstanton, Carhampton, any of these names ring a bell?

This one sounds most promising: in the Exe Valley, way down on the south coast, a dragon flies across the valley nightly, guarding separate treasure hoards at Cadbury Castle and Dolbury Hill...if you don't have this book already, you need to get a copy! :)

XD this is more like it, I'm down in cider country now :P getting told about the Beast of Exmoor and that there's a panther on the moors XD or the hairy hand in dartmoor, which was something i heard a comedian go on about on mock the week or something.. which i cant find the clip for but it was funny. there's nowt as queer as folk eh? ;)

that sounds like an interesting book though :D but it will have to get in line for things i want to buy XD
